PJ North - Artist/Singer/Songwriter
Bio
With a talent for music and love for speed, artist and race car driver PJ North has merged the two worlds, developing himself as a sort of double-threat in the country and drag racing markets. A Columbus, Ohio native, North began his music career at age 8 and his racing career at age 10, splitting every moment after between an 1/8th-mile track and a stage. Though he started off in hip-hop, North’s small-town upbringing was an inspirational mainstay and those inherent country influences continued to insert themselves into his craft. The diversity in his experiences have shaped North into the artist he is today, offering a classic country narrative infused with the rhythmic and lyrical aspects of Pop Punk, Pop, and Hip-Hop - all set to the hum of a guitar.
Fans first got a taste of North’s sound with the release of his aptly titled EP Part-Time Cowboy, which released in 2016. Shortly after the release, North moved to Nashville and began collaborating with Music City’s most prominent emerging talent and performing around town at notable weekly showcases like Whiskey Jam and Bus Call. In 2017, he released sophomore EP If This Is It... which further showcased North’s unique style of country and evolution as an artist. He also took his act on the road, traveling the country in pursuit of both his passions. North followed up his early work and began working with a new class of producers, Michael Mechling (Forty One Fifteen) and Frank Legeay to truly zero in on his sound. Starting with the successful single "She Was”, North proceeded to release singles before culminating in an eP in early 2020 "You Wouldn’t Get It”.
After Covid cancelled most of North’s original plans in 2020, North decided to get back in the writers room. North released a brand new EP in 2021, “Victory Laps”, featuring popular 2020 singles “LA2ME”, “Turn It Up Some”, and “Beers We Haven’t Drank.” The project features co-writes with up-and-comers Chris Ruediger, Dawson Edwards (Altadena) and Frank Legeay (Adam Doleac), and once again marries North’s love of hip-hop, punk and pop with classic country. Along with releasing brand new music in 2020 and 2021, North was a featured writer on multiple singles from Chris Ruediger, Ryan Robinette, and Tyler Williams.
2021 has continued to surprise North, as he released his brand new single “Kinda My Thing” featuring Dawson Edwards to fan fair on TikTok, he followed it with shows on BusCall Nashville and the famed Whiskey Jam.
